Pune: The Poona Hoteliers Association (PHA) recently hosted a seminar on fire safety and new emerging trends in hotels. The seminar took place at Hyatt Pune, where chief fire officer, PMC and PMRDA Devendra Potphode spoke on prevention of fires in hotels and restos.
Amit Sharma- President, Poona Hoteliers Association and GM Amanora The Fern , Pune said that awareness about fire safety measures and prevention of fires was of immense importance keeping in view the recent fire incident which occurred in a Lullanagar restaurant.
Over 60 participants from the 5 star, 4 star and 3 star hotels attended the seminar. The seminar also focused on the omportance of training hotel and restaurant manpower in fire fighting skills.
Potphode spoke on prevention of fires , their timely extinguishment, the use of the correct fire fighting equipment and upskilling of the hotel firefighting teams. Smooth evacuation process of guests and employees from the hotel was an aspect he spoke about. He also introduced the attendees to some new firefighting equipment and developments during the seminar.
Executive Committee members of the Poona Hoteliers Association also present on the occasion included: Sumit Kumar, General Manger, Hyatt Hotel, Sharan Shetty- Director Panchratna Hotel, Arun Nayar- Director, Pride Hotels, Vinay Nair -General Manager, Double Tree by Hilton Hotel , Pankaj Saxena- General Manager, Radisson Blue Hotel, Kharadi , Biswajit Biswas- General Manager, Fort Jadhavgarh and Prapti Deshpande, Secretary General of PHA.
